Viral hepatitis campaign
257
million
people are estimated to be living with Hepatitis B virus.
6.1%
of people in Sub-Saharan Africa are infected with hepatitis B despite the introduction of universal hepatitis B vaccination and effective antiviral therapy.
96%
of all deaths from Hepatitis were caused by Hepatitis B and C virus.
We at DoctorsAct believe that new cases of Hepatitis B can be prevented and deaths or unwanted complications from Hepatitis C can prevented if detected and treated in time. With our viral hepatitis program, we hope to contribute to WHO's target of reducing new infections by 90% and mortality by 65% by 2030.
How are we doing it?
Mass screening exercises for groups, institutions, churches, community peer groups, schools etc.
Vaccination for all who test negative for Hepatitis B and have never vaccinated against it.
Confirmatory tests for Hepatitis B and C if positive and treatment.
Partner with us or donate to scale up our viral hepatitis program.
