Apply to our
Internships
Applications for DoctorsAct Ghana's Internship Programs are open from January 1 to April 30 annually.
Starting summer of 2020, DoctorsAct Ghana selects up three exceptional applicants into our first flagship 4 week internship program in two unique tracks: Public Health Research and Social Work with the sole aim of building the capacity of our interns to strengthen health systems in low- and middle-income settings. As we are a small and rapidly evolving health organization, we believe that each of our interns play a very unique role in the strategic growth of our work, and has a tangible impact on the many inhabitants of the rural communities that we serve. Through our close partnerships with government agencies, local and urban hospitals, non-profits, academic and research institutions, local peer/community groups among others, interns also connect into and contribute to the broader movement of global health.
DoctorsAct's internship posts begin with flexible start dates, usually in mid-July. Interns participate in pre-departure orientation with our well trained and experienced staff, followed by one week of orientation and another week of intensive field training with the director of projects and other program staff.
All our interns require a commitment to social justice, strong work ethic, and a month-long commitment. English proficiency is a requirement for all interns in each of the tracks. We accept interns with diverse backgrounds, While some may come to us with several years of work or research experience and/or an advanced degree, we also accept dynamic and committed recent college students and graduates. Each intern lives in a local community, and works closely with other colleagues and volunteers.
